ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management – Lead Implementer

Lead ImplementerRMG-0340 hours

Overview

A programme for those responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a management system based on ISO 31000:2018. It walks through context, leadership, risk-based planning, documentation, operation, performance evaluation and improvement, ready for certification.

The standard

About the standard

Sets out principles and a general process for identifying, weighing, treating and following up on the risks an organization faces, whatever its size or sector. It is written as guidance rather than a set of certifiable requirements, giving leaders and risk practitioners a shared vocabulary and structure they can adapt to their own context. The 2018 edition frames risk management primarily as a way of creating and protecting value rather than a purely defensive exercise.

Key objectives

  • Give organizations a shared framework and vocabulary for managing risk
  • Embed risk thinking into governance, strategy, planning and everyday decisions
  • Improve early identification of both threats and opportunities
  • Support more efficient allocation of resources toward risk treatment
  • Provide a benchmark organizations can use to audit their own risk practices

Who uses it

Leaders, risk owners, and professionals responsible for managing risk.
