It is written in generic, sector-neutral language so any organization, regardless of size, industry, or offering, can adapt it to its own context. The standard is built around process thinking, risk-based decision-making, and continual improvement rather than prescribing specific tools or methods.
Key objectives

- Promote a process-based, risk-aware approach to running the organization
- Drive continual improvement of products, services and the management system
- Increase customer satisfaction through reliably conforming outputs
- Offer a generic structure that any organization, in any sector, can apply
