The standard

About the standard

ISO 21001:2025

Educational Organizations Management System

Sets requirements for a management system that helps schools, universities, training providers and other curriculum-based organizations run their teaching, learning and research activities more effectively. It applies to any provider regardless of size, ownership or delivery method, and is aimed at lifting satisfaction among learners, families and staff. The focus is on the quality of the underlying educational processes rather than on certifying any single course or qualification.

Key objectives

  • Align an education provider's mission and policies with learners' real needs
  • Offer one framework usable by schools, universities, e-learning providers and corporate trainers alike
  • Lift satisfaction among learners, families, staff and other stakeholders
  • Support inclusive access to quality learning, including distance and lifelong learners
  • Drive continual improvement of teaching, learning and research processes
